Avatars are representations of users in virtual worlds. The emergence of generative AI brings new possibilities for the creation of avatars. For example, users can pretend to be someone else by mimicking their appearance and voice, increasing the risk of identity theft. To expose such risks, the trustworthiness of user representations in virtual worlds is crucial when interacting digitally with others. For this reason, we investigate the trustworthiness of avatars in virtual environments from different perspectives and present a framework approach that we exemplify with two cases.
