As part of Digital Week Dortmund (DiWoDo), we organized a workshop at the Chair of Digital Transformation at TU Dortmund University, where participants gained insights into current research projects, including our flowAR project. They not only learned about technologies, but also had the opportunity to try them out and help shape them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FlowAR in action<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With the Voxel app we developed, iPads became creative tools: Participants designed their own Minecraft-style augmented reality content and experienced how low-threshold and playful AR can become a creative medium.
In addition, they were able to use our Wizard tool to repair a bucket wheel excavator made of building blocks using AR instructions and design their own step-by-step repair instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another highlight was the use of HoloLens 2: Here, participants brought virtual plants to life right before their eyes \u2013 an example of how immersive and vivid AR worlds can be designed..<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Discussions about digital transformation<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to practical experiences, the focus was also on critical discourse: using the example of smart homes, participants discussed the opportunities and challenges of digital technologies \u2013 from increased convenience to questions of data sovereignty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Conclusion<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The workshop showed that augmented reality can not only be used creatively and entertainingly, but also opens up new possibilities for everyday life, work, and learning.
